About Us

Finding Inspiration Every Step of the Way

Impress Genius' vision is to leave an imprint in our local and global communities with an army of brilliant talent by doing work that matters!

Our heartfelt mission is to inspire and empower families of children with disABILITIES to use their gifts for self-advocacy and advancement via education!

Our Story

Impress Genius was born on one of my first trips to Belize. That year, a for-profit organization paid all my expenses—plane, rooming, and meals—to use my specialized skills abroad. I was to teach a group of graduate and undergraduate students how to treat and diagnose communication disorders in a rural city where only one speech-language pathologist (SLP) is available for the entire country. Many families signed up for appointments and camps to access these free services. It reminded me of the families of children with special needs back home in South Texas. 1, 846 miles away, the families I knew faced knowledge and language barriers to access the full scope of services available to them too.

Seeing the need for basic services was impactful and disheartening, as I know pain and suffering first-hand.  I am an empathetic humanitarian. What could I do that would allow me to engage in these acts of service while earning a living? At heart, I vehemently believe that our life journey must be used to leave a positive imprint or impact (Impress) in the lives of others and our local and global communities.  To do so requires that special talent, gift, or skill (Genius) that each of us possesses, such as creativity, humor, charisma, or intellect. So here I am... With over 20 years of experience in various educational roles (Texas certified teacher across various content areas for elementary/middle school/high school & a bilingual speech-language pathologist), ready, willing and able to support every dream and celebrate every step with you!
